Solution

When the Tiger King was born, an astrologer foretold that since he was born in the hour of the Bull, a tiger would one day cause his death. Determined to prove this prediction wrong, the king decided to kill a hundred tigers. The astrologer even declared that if he succeeded, he would burn his books. The Maharaja prohibited tiger hunting in his state and denied a British officer permission to hunt, risking his throne. To pacify the officer, he sent expensive rings worth three lakh rupees to his wife, who kept them all, but the kingdom was saved.

Within ten years, he killed seventy tigers until they became extinct in Pratibandapuram. After marrying a princess from a tiger-rich state, he raised his count to ninety-nine. For the final tiger, the diwan procured one from Madras. Although the king shot it, the hunters actually killed it.
