An energy of 4 kJ causes a displacement of 64 m in 2.5 s. Calculate

Solution

(a) Energy = Work = 4 kJ = 4000 J

Work = Force × Displacement

4000 J = Force × 64 m

∴ Force = \[\frac{4000}{64} \]

= 62.5 N

(b) \[ \text{Power} = \frac{\text{Work}}{\text{Time}} \]

= \[\frac{4000\ \mathrm{J}}{2.5\ \mathrm{s}} \]

= 1600 W
