Step-wise calculation:

1. Length of wire = Circumference

= 2πr 

= `2 xx 22/7 xx 28` 

= 176 cm

2. When bent into a square. 

Perimeter = 176 cm

⇒ Side = 176 ÷ 4

= 44 cm

3. Area of the square = Side² 

= 44²

= 1936 cm²

The area of the square is 1936 cm².
