Solution

Given: n = 2 × 1028/m3

A = 1 mm2 = 10−6 m2

I = 5 A

e = 1.6 × 10−19 C

vd = ?

I = neAvd

vd = `I/(n eA)`

= `5/(2 xx 10^28 xx 1.6 xx 10^-19 xx 10^-6)`

= 1.5625 × 10−3 m/s

= 1.56 mm/s
