A bag contains some balls of which x are white, 2x are black and 3x are red. A ball is selected at random What is the probability that it is not red?

Solution

Total number of balls = (x + 2x + 3x) = 6x.

Number of balls which are not red = (x + 2x) = 3x.

∴ P(getting a ball which is not red) = `(3x)/(6x) = 1/2`.
