Solution

a (a2 + a + 1) + 5a

upon solving this

a × a2 + a × a + a × 1 + 5

= a3 + a2 + a + 5

  1. Putting a = 0 in the above equation,
    a3 + a2 + a + 5
    = (0)3 + (0)2 + (0) + 5
    = 5
  2. Putting a = 1 in the above equation,
    13 + 12 + (1) + 5
    = 1 + 1 + 1 + 5
    = 8
  3. Putting a = −1 in the above equation,
    (-1)3 + (-1)2 + (-1) + 5
    = − 1 + 1 − 1 + 5
    = 4
