Question
₹ 300 is divided between A and B in such a way that A gets half of B. Find:
- the ratio between the shares of A and B.
- the share of A and the share of B.

Solution
Total amount to be divided between A and B = ₹ 300
(i) A gets half of B
Hence, ratio between A and B = `1/2` = 1 : 2
(ii) Sum of ratios = 1 + 2 = 3
∴ A' shares = `(300 xx 1)/3 = 100`
∴ B' share = `(300 xx 2)/3 = 200`
