उत्तर

Photograph   Image in a Plane Mirror
A photograph is made when a real image is projected on a photographic film. The image formed by a plane mirror is virtual and cannot be taken on a photograph.
The image is smaller in size compared to the actual object. The image is the same size as the object.

Explain why, though both a plane mirror and a sheet of paper reflect light but we can see the image of our face in a plane mirror but not in a sheet of paper.

The image in a plane mirror is virtual and laterally inverted. What does this statement mean?

Write all the capital letters of the alphabet which look the same in a plane mirror.

If a ray of light goes from a rarer medium to a denser medium, will it bend towards the normal or away from it?

Fill in the following blank with suitable word:

Light travelling along a normal is ...............refracted.

A ray of light travelling in air is incident on a rectangular glass block and emerges out into the air from the opposite face. Draw a labelled ray diagram to show the completer path of this ray of light. Mark the two points where the refraction of light takes place. What can you say about the final direction of ray of light?

Light travels more quickly through water than through glass.

If a ray of light passes from glass into water, which way will it bend : towards the normal or away from the normal?

How does the light have to enter the glass:

to produce a large amount of bending?

A ray of light A incident from air suffers partial reflection and refraction at the boundary of water.

  1. Complete the diagram showing (i) the reflected ray B and (ii) the refracted ray C.
  2. How are the angles of incidence i and refraction r related?

Choose and write the correct option.

If we gradually increase the angle of incidence of a ray of light passing through prism then …..

A real image is formed by the light rays after reflection or refraction when they:

  1. actually meet or intersect with each other.
  2. actually converge at a point.
  3. appear to meet when they are produced in the backward direction.
  4. appear to diverge from a point.

Which of the above statements are correct?

Observe the given figure and name the following.

Ray AB
Ray NM
Ray MD
∠ r

State whether true or false. If false, correct the statement.

The angle of deviation depends on the refractive index of the glass.

The refractive index of a transparent medium is always greater than ______.

The deviation of light ray from its path when it travels from one transparent medium to another transparent medium is called ______.

Which surface will not reflect most of the light falling on them?

Light is refracted or bent while going from one medium to another because of its ______ changes.

A star appears twinkling into the sky because of the reflection of light by the atmosphere.

A water tank appears shallower when it is viewed from the top due to refraction.
