उत्तर

We have to find the value of uniform acceleration.
We have:
Initial velocity (u) = 6 m/s
Final velocity is in opposite direction to that of initial velocity (v) = –4.4 m/s
Time taken (t) = 0.04 s
Acceleration :
`a = "υ-u"/t`
Put the values in the above equation to get the value of acceleration .
`a = "-4.4-6"/0.04`
= `10.4/0.04`
= `-260  "m/s"^2`

What does the odometer of an automobile measure?

A train travels the first 15 km at a uniform speed of 30 km/h; the next 75 km at a uniform speed of 50 km/h; and the last 10 km at a uniform speed of 20 km/h. Calculate the average speed for the entire train journey.

A car is moving on a straight road with uniform acceleration. The speed of the car varies with time as follows :
Time (s)              :     0          2         4          6       8         10
Speed (m/s)       :     4          8       12        16     20         24
Draw the speed-time graph by choosing a convenient scale. From this graph :

(1) Calculate the acceleration of the car.
(2) Calculate the distance travelled by the car in 10 seconds.

A bus moving along a straight line at 20 m/s undergoes an acceleration of 4 m/s2. After 2 seconds, its speed will be:

What do you mean by motion in one direction?

Give an example of the motion of a body moving with a constant speed but with a variable velocity. Draw a diagram to represent such a motion.

Give one example of following motion :

Variable velocity

A car is moving in a straight line with speed 18 km h-1. It is stopped in 5 s by applying the brakes. Find:

  1. the speed of car in m s-1
  2. the retardation and
  3. the speed of car after 2 s of applying the brakes.

What is the relation between distance and time when the body is moving with variable velocity?

A body projected vertically up with a velocity of 10 m/s reaches a height of 20 m. If it is projected with a velocity of 20 m/s, then the maximum height reached by the body is:
