The theory of relativity was developed by Albert Einstein. It explains how space, time, motion, and gravity are related.

It has two main parts:

1. Special Theory of Relativity: It explains that the laws of physics are the same for observers moving at constant speeds, and that the speed of light remains constant. It also shows that measurements of time and distance can change depending on relative motion. 

2. General Theory of Relativity: It explains gravity as the effect of mass and energy bending or curving spacetime.

One of the most famous results of relativity is the relation E = mc², which shows that mass and energy are connected. The theory has greatly changed our understanding of the universe.
