The Big Bang theory is the widely accepted scientific explanation for the origin and early development of the universe. According to this theory, the universe began about 13.8 billion years ago in an extremely hot and dense state and then started expanding.
As the universe expanded, it cooled. Tiny particles formed first, followed by atoms of light elements such as hydrogen and helium. Over a very long period, these materials came together to form stars, galaxies, planets, and other celestial bodies.
Important evidence supporting the Big Bang theory includes the continuing expansion of the universe, the cosmic microwave background radiation, and the observed abundance of light elements.
