Define the term balanced diet.

  1. A balanced diet includes enough amounts of all the nutrients essential for healthy growth and activity.
  2. A balanced diet is one which contains different types of food in such quantities and proportions that the body needs for calories, proteins, minerals, vitamins and other nutrients are adequately met, and a small provision is made for extra nutrients to withstand the short duration of leanness.
  3. A balanced diet consists of seven nutrients: protein, carbs, fats, vitamins, minerals, water, and antioxidants.
