Solution

My Gurmeet and I were relaxing in the living room on a Saturday night, sipping coffee and having a slow day. It was time for a second filling. I had just made a fresh pot of my favorite dark roast and was enjoying the first sip. As usual, I didn’t think twice about leaving my cup on the kitchen counter while I went to get the cookies I had bought the night before from the kitchen pantry. Gurmeet was sitting on the couch with a sly grin when I got back. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but as soon as I took a sip from my cup, I could taste something sour and tight. I put the cup down and looked at it carefully for any clues as to what might be wrong. My face turned red with worry.

“Uh, you good?” Gurmeet asked, trying to hold back a laugh. “Did you... did you put something in my coffee?” I asked, my mind racing through all the possibilities. Gurmeet burst into laughter, clutching his stomach. “I added a few drops of neem oil to your coffee. I thought you’d catch it quicker from its smell, but I guess not!”

At that very moment, I wanted to be angry but also wanted to laugh out loud. I was a little upset about the ruined coffee, but I couldn’t deny how clever the prank was. Gurmeet was always getting into minor trouble, and this time was no different. When everyone stopped laughing, he said sorry and gave me a fresh cup of coffee that he had made later.

Even though the whole thing was silly, it taught me something important: life needs funny times, even if they make you look bad. It’s been too long since I laughed at jokes, and Gurmeet’s trick taught me not to always expect things to go perfectly. It was a silly little thing we did, but it brought us closer that moment. After that, I always checked my coffee twice before my first sip!
