Good morning everyone. Today our group is speaking for the motion, “Online Education Does More Harm Than Good.”

Online education has made learning easier in some ways, but too much dependence on it creates several problems. Students spend long hours in front of screens, get fewer chances for direct interaction, and may become less active. Therefore, we believe that online education cannot fully replace classroom learning.

Speaker 2: Points Favouring the Motion

I strongly support the motion. Online education can cause eye strain, headaches and lack of physical activity because students spend many hours looking at screens.

It also reduces face-to-face interaction with teachers and classmates. In a classroom, students can ask questions directly, participate in activities and learn from one another.

Another problem is distraction. While attending online classes, students may use social media, play games or visit other websites. Some students may also face poor internet connections or may not have suitable devices.

Speaker 3: Arguments Against the Opponent’s Points

Our opponents may say that online education saves time and allows students to learn from anywhere. This is true to some extent. However, convenience alone cannot make online learning better than classroom education.

They may also argue that the internet provides unlimited knowledge. But students need proper guidance to choose correct and useful information. Moreover, online learning cannot provide the same discipline, social interaction and practical experience that a school classroom provides.

Therefore, technology should support education, not completely replace traditional classroom teaching.

To conclude, online education has some advantages, but excessive dependence on it can harm students physically, socially and academically. Classroom learning gives students direct guidance, discipline, friendship and opportunities for overall development.

We therefore strongly support the motion that “Online Education Does More Harm Than Good” when it replaces regular classroom learning completely. A balanced use of technology along with classroom education is the best approach.
