• By fusion: The constituent metals are melted and fused together in the required proportion. For example, brass is made by fusing copper and zinc.
• By compressing finely divided metals: Finely powdered metals are mixed and compressed together to form an alloy. For example, Wood’s metal is an alloy of lead, tin, bismuth and cadmium. It has a low melting point and is used in automatic sprinklers, which spray water to prevent the spread of fire.
