  Open system of circulation Closed system of circulation
1. Blood flow via the sinuses' exposed tissue spaces. Blood flows through blood vessels, which are closed tubes with a distinct wall.
2. Blood and tissue cells come into intimate contact. Tissue cells are not in direct contact with the blood.
3. Direct material exchange takes place between tissue cells and blood cells. Tissue fluid facilitates the exchange of materials between blood and tissue cells.
4. There is virtually little blood flow. The blow flow is really quick.
5. There are no red corpuscles and any respiratory pigment that may be present dissolves in the plasma. Although respiratory pigment is present and has the potential to disintegrate in plasma, it is typically retained in red blood cells.
6. Occur in most molluscs and arthropods. Occur in vertebrates and annelids.
