Solution

The Mixed-Up Twins

The poem is about two twin brothers who looked exactly alike in face, form, and features. Their resemblance was so striking that nobody could tell them apart. Even their relatives and friends were confused about their identities. To make matters worse, when they were babies, the nurse accidentally mixed them up before their names were given. As a result, the poet's brother John received the poet's name, and the poet got John's name.

This confusion continued throughout their lives. At school, the poet was often punished for his brother's naughty deeds, who turned out to be a fool. The poet could never prove his real identity to others. Their identical appearance also caused problems in the poet's personal life, and even his fiancée mistakenly married his brother.

The absurd confusion never ended. Finally, when the poet died, the neighbours made one last mistake and buried his brother John instead of him. The poem is full of humour and shows the funny consequences of mistaken identity between identical twins.
