Solution
After walking for an hour through the forest, the travellers came across a large ditch that separated it. They couldn't proceed. The ditch was large and steep. It has jagged rocks at its base. Scarecrow comes up with an idea. He asked the lion to take everyone on his back one by one and jump to the other side of the ditch. The lion was effective in accomplishing this. In this manner, the pilgrims crossed the first ditch.
