Solution
There were different methods of classification of animals.
- The first classification method was proposed by the Greek philosopher Aristotle. He considered characteristics such as body size, habits, and habitats of the animals. This approach was termed the artificial method of classification.
- Scientists like Theophrastus, Pliny, John Ray, Linnaeus, and others used the same artificial method.
- Further, sources were updated because science has advanced, and new ways of classifying things were proposed. Linnaeus and others.
- The ‘Natural system of classification’ was then proposed. This system of classification was based on criteria such as body organisation, cell types, chromosomes, and biochemical properties.
- Later, Dobzhansky and Meyer gave a system of classification based on evolution.
- In 1977, Carl Woese also proposed the three-domain system of animal classification.

If body of any animal is cut through ______ axis of body, it may or may not produce two equal halves. Depending upon this property, there are different types of animal bodies. In the case of ______ body, there is no any such imaginary axis of the body through which we can get two equal halves. For example Amoeba, ______ some sponges. In radial symmetry type of body, if imaginary cut passes through central axis but any plane of body, it gives two ______ halves. For example Starfish. In case of this animal, there are five different planes passing through ______ axis of body through which we can get two equal halves. In Bilateral symmetry type of body, there is only one such imaginary axis of body through which we can get two equal halves. For example: ______ fishes, frog, birds, human, etc.
