Solution
A hockey stick’s head is hooked. The left side of the stick is flat, and the right side is rounded. The ball cannot be played on the rounded side of the stick; it can only be played on the flat, left-hand side or on its edge. For right-handed players, this comes naturally, but for left-handed players, it does not. Regretfully, left-handed sticks are prohibited in games for lefties.
Every player is required to carry a stick in order to participate in the game. Adult sticks often measure between 89 and 85 centimeters (35” and 38”). Starting in 2016, a maximum length of 105 centimeters (41”) was required. A maximum weight of 535 to 560 grams is allowed.
A player must turn the stick over the ball and use the flat side in order to hit the right legally without using the rounded side. Reversing the stick head, or turning the handle about 180 degrees over the ball, and using the flat side of the stick to swing the ball from left to right is known as a “reverse hit.”
