Solution
- The Union Parliament has the authority to impeach the President of India for violating the Constitution.
- The impeachment procedure can be started by either House.
- First, one-fourth of the members of a House must provide a signed notification at least 14 days in advance.
- After debate, if the House passes the impeachment resolution with a two-thirds vote, it is referred to the other House for investigation.
- The President has the right to defend himself. If the second House passes the resolution with a two-thirds majority, the President will be impeached on that date.
- Also, Parliament has the authority to remove Supreme Court and High Court judges based on proven fraud or incapacity, which requires a two-thirds majority in both Houses.
