Solution
- Muhammad ibn Abdullah was born in AD 570 in Mecca. He was orphaned early and raised by his uncle, Abu Talib.
- As an adult, he worked as a merchant and was known for his honesty, and was called Al‑Amin.
- Around AD 610, he received the first revelation from the angel Gabriel in the cave of Hira; these revelations over about 23 years form the Quran.
- His main message was belief in one God (Allah) and good moral behaviour.
- In AD 622, he migrated to Medina (the Hijra) and established the Muslim community; he died in AD 632, and Abu Bakr became the first caliph.
- After his death, Islam spread rapidly, and later dynasties (Umayyad, Abbasid) helped its growth and the spread of learning.
