We recently chose a potted plant called the Hibiscus as a gift for our mother. It was a small shrub with a height of about 1.5 feet. The leaves looked dark green, shiny, and had a slightly serrated edge. The plant had several buds and appeared to be healthy and one large, fully blossomed deep-red flower had five petals and a prominent central stamen. The plant came in a small clay pot with a diameter of about 10 inches. Its simple yellow and red abstract design complemented the plant well. The soil in the pot looked moist and well–draining and enriched with organic matter.

One day my friend Sid who I knew from England called me. " I've got a date. She's got a Polish friend. Let's double date."
A blind date? Nah that wasn't for me.
But Sid kept pestering me and a few days later we headed up to the Bronx to pick up his date and her friend Roma.

"Pluck the flower off said the other boy, and the daisy trembled for fear, for to be pulled off meant death to it; and it wished so much to live, as it was to go with the square of turf into the poor captive lark's cage.
"No let it stay," said the other boy," it looks so pretty."
And so it stayed, and was brought into the lark's cage.
