Solution

  1. Negative reinforcement is a process in which an unpleasant or undesirable stimulus is removed after a desired behaviour occurs, making the behaviour more likely to be repeated in the future.
  2. It does not mean punishment. In negative reinforcement, the aim is to increase desirable behaviour by removing something unpleasant.
  3. For example, a student completes homework on time so that the teacher stops giving repeated reminders. Removing reminders encourages the student to keep completing homework on time.

Thus, negative reinforcement strengthens behaviour by removing an unpleasant condition or stimulus after the desired response.
