• Prepare to speak from the chosen character’s perspective based on information from the story and the understanding of the intentions of the characters.
• Prepare a role-play between Sentila and the chosen character. The conversation between the characters should cover the following points.
  1. Sentila’s desire to learn pot making
  2. the challenges she faces
  3. the advice or perspective the other character offers
• Students can use direct quotes from the story and creatively expand on the characters’ thoughts and feelings.

Sentila:	Onula, I really want to become a pot maker like my mother and grandmother. I have always been fascinated by the craft.
Onula:	I know, Sentila. I have seen how sincerely you try. But why do you look so tense while making the pots?
Sentila:	I feel frustrated because I have been trying for a long time, but I still cannot make the pots properly. I am afraid that I will never succeed.
Onula:	Do not lose heart. Pot making requires patience and practice. You already have the desire to learn; now you need to trust yourself.
Sentila:	I wish I could make pots as skilfully as my mother. She has been doing this for years.
Onula:	You must not compare yourself with her. Watch carefully, practise patiently, and let your hands learn the skill naturally. Do not be afraid of making mistakes.
Sentila:	Thank you, Onula. Your words have given me confidence. I will keep trying and will not give up.
Onula:	That is the spirit, Sentila. Remember, determination and practice can help you overcome every difficulty.
