The maintenance function is responsible for protecting and promoting the physical and mental health of employees. Two of its activities include:

1. Fringe Benefits: Several sorts of fringe benefits such as housing, medical help, educational facilities and conveyance facilities are provided to employees to promote their well-being.
2. Social Security Measures: Employees and their families benefit from social security measures such as provident funds, pensions, gratuities, maternity benefits, injury/disability allowances, and group insurance.
