Solution
- Climate: Cotton requires a warm climate with temperatures between 21°C to 30°C. It needs a long frost-free period and bright sunshine during growth. Rainfall should be moderate, around 50–100 cm. Excessive rain is harmful, especially during the flowering and boll-opening stages.
- Soil: Well-drained black soil (Regur soil) is ideal as it retains moisture and is rich in lime, iron, potash, and magnesium. Cotton also grows in alluvial soils in some areas.
- Topography: Cotton thrives in flat or gently sloping land suitable for mechanized farming.
- Growing Season: It is mainly a Kharif crop, sown in June–July and harvested in October–March.
