Solution
A teacher’s influence, ideas and expectations of his or her students’ capabilities have an effect on
student academic performance and achievements. If teachers believe in their students, their students begin to believe in themselves. Just like the way, Miss. Sullivan changed Helen’s life the same way in everyone’s life there is a teacher who influences the child to do something in life. Teachers focus on whole child development – physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Teachers facilitate the child’s development and education by planning activities and lessons based on the child’s interests, asking questions to further understanding, and actively engaging in the activities alongside the child. Teachers are responsive and nurturing to the needs of children. Teachers mentor and guide the process from inside the learning situation. As children interact with learning materials and other children, teachers scaffold learning by giving children new vocabulary, suggesting possible solutions to problems, providing resources, modeling behaviors, or showing them where to find more information. While working on projects with the child, the teacher documents the child’s learning by collecting data and examples of learning that can be used at a later time to inform parents and expand the child’s learning. Hence, the story “The story of my life” depicts this part well of a teacher impacting a child’s life.
