Why do leaves of some plants wilt during midday inspite of there being plenty of water in the soil?

During midday, the intensity of sunlight and temperature is very high, causing the rate of transpiration to exceed the rate of water absorption by the roots. This loss of internal water makes the leaf cells lose their turgidity, resulting in temporary wilting.
