Solution

Subhas Chandra Bose resigned from the post of Congress President in 1939 because of growing differences with Mahatma Gandhi and the Congress Working Committee. Although Bose had defeated Gandhi-backed candidate Pattabhi Sitaramayya at the Tripuri Session, most senior Congress leaders refused to cooperate with his leadership.
