Question

Why are plastic bags a big environmental nuisance?

Answer 1

Plastic bags are a major environmental nuisance because they do not decompose easily and remain in the environment for a long time. They can block drains and sewage systems, causing waterlogging. Animals may swallow discarded bags and become ill or die. When plastic bags are burnt, they release poisonous gases that pollute the air and harm living organisms.
