Short Answer

Solution
Icebergs are carried thousands of kilometers without melting substantially because ice has a very high specific latent heat of fusion (336 J/g). A large amount of heat is needed to melt even 1 g of ice. So when an iceberg moves through warmer water, only a small part of it melts; the rest remains ice. Hence it can travel very far without melting substantially.
