Why are employees kept on probation even when they have successfully cleared the selection procedure?

Selection tests only provide a glimpse of a candidate’s behavior. No selection method is completely reliable, and the true evaluation of a candidate happens only when they start working. That’s why new employees are usually placed on a probation period, to observe their real performance on the job.
