Solution

N.M. Lokhande (Narayan Meghaji Lokhande) was a pioneer of the Indian labor movement and is often regarded as one of the first trade union leaders in India.

  • He started the weekly newspaper “Dinabandhu” in 1880 to voice workers’ issues.
  • In 1890, he founded the Bombay Mill-Hands Association, which is considered the first labor association in India, though not a trade union in the modern sense.
