Solution
Laldenga was a prominent Mizo leader who played a central role in the Mizo National Front (MNF) and led a movement demanding independence for Mizoram. His movement was driven by the desire for greater autonomy and the protection of Mizo identity. Laldenga's leadership in the MNF resulted in a violent insurgency in Mizoram, which was initially suppressed by the Indian government. His movement gained momentum after he maintained close relations with foreign countries, including East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). The government attempted to quell the movement through military force. However, after talks with the moderate sections of the MNF, the government agreed to give Mizoram the status of a Union Territory in 1972. Finally, Mizoram became a full state in 1987.
