Who is a libero?

In volleyball, a libero is a defensive specialist: they wear a contrasting-colored jersey, play only in the back row, and focus on receiving and digging (defense). The libero may replace any back-row player without prior notice, but they cannot block or attack a ball that is entirely above net height. The libero may act as a setter only under restrictions (for example, an overhand set by the libero must be made from behind the 3‑meter line).
