Solution

A refrigerator door closes automatically from a certain distance because a magnetic strip is fitted along the edge of the door. When the door comes near the refrigerator body, the magnet attracts the metal frame and pulls the door tightly shut. The magnetic force keeps the door closed so that cold air does not escape from the refrigerator. Therefore, the door does not open again unless we pull it with enough force to overcome the magnetic attraction.
