Question

Which stretch of the Yamuna River in Delhi is reported to remain critically polluted despite the Yamuna Action Plan?

Options

• Wazirabad–Okhla stretch

• Hathnikund–Wazirabad stretch

• Yamuna Nagar–Okhla stretch

• Okhla–Mathura stretch

Answer 1

The Wazirabad–Okhla stretch in Delhi remains critically polluted despite the Yamuna Action Plan implementation. This segment exhibits high bacterial populations, elevated BOD levels, cloudy water, foul odour, and floating sludge. The continued pollution of this critical urban stretch indicates the limited effectiveness of the plan in achieving its intended water quality improvements.
