Which lane is given to the best swimmer?

Assignment of lane purely depends upon the type of pool. In 50 metres swimming pool (except for 50 metre event) assignment of lane shall be number 1 lane on the right side of the pool. When using pool with 10 lanes, by facing the course by starting side the fastest swimmer/team with odd number of lane. When using 6 to 8 lanes then lane number 3 or 4 must be given.
