From Fig. 2.1, we note that tan x is an increasing function in the interval `((-pi)/2, pi/2)`

Since `1 > pi/4`

⇒ `tan 1 > an  p/4`.

This gives an 1 > 1

⇒ `tan 1 > 1 > pi/4`

⇒ tan 1 > 1 > tan^–1(1).
