Question
Which is greater in the following?
`3/4, 7/8`
Advertisements
Solution
Given rational numbers are `3/4` and `7/8`
Here, `3/4 = (3 xx 2)/(4 xx 2) = 6/8` and `7/8 = (7 xx 1)/(8 xx 1) = 7/8` ...[∵ LCM of 4 and 8 = 8]
∵ 7 > 6 ...[Since, the denominators of both rational numbers are same]
So, `7/8 > 3/4`
Hence, the greater number is `7/8`.
