Solution

The Tethys Sea existed between the landmasses of Gondwanaland (to the south) and Angaraland (to the north), roughly where the Himalayan mountain range and the Tibetan Plateau are located today. It was a vast, shallow sea that existed during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras and eventually closed as the Indian subcontinent collided with Eurasia, forming the Himalayas.
