A penalty kick is given when a player from the defending team deliberately commits a foul inside their own penalty area. It is also awarded if a defender intentionally handles the ball within the penalty area. During the kick, all players other than the penalty taker and the goalkeeper must remain outside the penalty area and stay at least 10 yards away from the ball.
