Solution

If man had not discovered sea routes, international trade and travel would have developed much more slowly. Transporting heavy goods over long distances would have been difficult and expensive. Many countries would have had less contact with one another, and the exchange of goods, ideas, cultures and technologies would have been limited. Coastal trade, ports and maritime industries would also have remained less developed.
