Solution

  1. The basic weaknesses of Japan as a country during World War II were its lack of natural resources, especially oil, coal, and iron.
  2. Japan depended heavily on imports to support its industries and military. It also had a small land area and limited industrial capacity compared to bigger countries like the USA.
  3. Japan was fighting in too many places across Asia and the Pacific, which made it hard to supply its forces. Also, the people of the occupied countries strongly resisted Japanese rule.
  4. Lastly, Japan had weak naval and air power compared to the growing strength of the Allied forces, especially the United States.
  5. These weaknesses made it difficult for Japan to continue the war.
