Solution

Convectional rainfall is typical in the equatorial region. Intense daytime heating causes warm, moisture‑laden air to rise in strong convectional currents, cool adiabatically and form cumulonimbus clouds that produce heavy, torrential showers often accompanied by thunder and lightning, and because the surface is hottest in the middle/late afternoon these downpours occur almost daily in the afternoon (commonly cited around noon–4 p.m., often called the “4 o’clock shower”).
