Solution

Let the number to be added be x.

`(14 + x)/(23 + x) = 8/11`

11(14 + x) = 8(23 + x)

154 + 11x = 184 + 8x

11x − 8x = 184 − 154

3x = 30

x = `30/3`

x = 10

∴ The number to be added is 10.
