Solution

Given:

Volume (V) = 38 L

Temperature (T) = 27 + 273 = 300 K

Pressure (P) = `600/760` atm

Gas Constant (R) = 0.0821 L . atm . mol−1 . K−1

Molar Mass of CO2 (M) = 44 g/mol

Apply Ideal Gas Formula,

PV = `m/M RT`

Mass (m) = `(P xx V xx M)/(R xx T)`

= `((600/760) xx 38 xx 44)/(0.0821 xx 300)`

= `(30 xx 44)/24.63`

= `1320/24.63`

= 53.6 g

The mass of CO2 is 53.6 g.
