  3. Infuriated citizens attacked jails, police stations, and train stations, staged processions, and attempted to seize control of government buildings.
  4. Schoolchildren screamed “Vande Mataram” while participating in processions. The public was unfrightened despite the police using lathi charges and shooting. Both young and elderly shown bravery and tenacity.
