Solution
Fluorosis is caused by excessive fluoride intake while the teeth are forming, most commonly from drinking groundwater or other water supplies that contain high fluoride levels. This excess fluoride disrupts normal enamel mineralization and produces white, brown, or black speckles (mottling) and sometimes pitting of the enamel.
